Ziad, thank you for your remarks and for calling attention to the difficulty of reading the arabic text. I have configured my system, which is not an Arabic system, to display the characters properly by selecting "Unicode UTF-8" on the VIEW menu, under the ENCODING section. I hope this helps you and others who wish to read the arabic translations. - George

I want to thank you for your initative, i think it's very important to have these questions answered, but unfortunatley with the number of internet users in syria along with restrictions and not to mention monitoring by the mokhabarat it would be difficult to get a real perspective on the syrian people's views.

Nonetheless great job, and change is on the way.

Hi,
Thanks for this. Hope that results of this questionnaire benefit Syrian people. We are fed up of the current corrupted regime, but wants things to go peacefully. Free Syrian

Mr. Ajjan:

Many thanks for this opportunity. Any changes in Syria have to be from within. Government corruption has to end, and very soon. Foreign invasions or interference will doom any chance for a peaceful future (see Iraq).

Tony,

Think of each card as a possibility for the future of Syria, described by those 5 statements.

So for card one think, how would you feel personally if there would be a foreign invasion to change the regime AND an islamic government would come to power AND there would be little progress in economic reforms AND the political system would be dominated still by one party AND Syria would regain all of the Golan.

All of those 5 things TOGETHER - that is what you must consider.

The poll asks you to rate 16 different "futures" of Syria - and each "future" is described with 5 statements.

I hope this helps you. - George

Thank you for doing this George. It was depressing that I couldn't find a scenario that I rated more than acceptable but I guess I am expecting too much too soon.

Hello all
I think we mix our resentment toward any invasion of Syria by a foreign power with requesting help from peace loving nations.
We should campain with peacful means to prevent cooperation by other nations with the syrian regime to prevent further destruction of Syria's society by the bath regime.
Although we should refrain from asking for a foreign invasion of our country , we should ask europe and the west and any possible country to isolate syria and not cooperate with to force it to hand over power peacfully to the syrian people.
Example is when loans and assistance are given to syria they end up stolen by corrupt officials and very little of it reaches the people and eventually it is the people who have to pay it back and these officials end up living happily ever after in a foreign country as we have seen many cases not least of the is Khaddam.

If Bashar wants to prove that he is a worthy president he should put to trial all the corrupt officials publicly and appear on tv every week or month to answer questions of the people through a free press
and update us on matters of importance in domestic affairs.
I don't care to hear from him that we just signed a trade agreement with south africa or brazil.
our pressing domestic issues should not be avoided under the pretext of the great world conspiracy agains us.this is something every syrian is sick of.

Thank you jeorge ajjan for creating this site
